Magic the Gathering
Started playing Magic again. Doing it online. My son kept watching me play, so I tried to teach him (he's 6 years old). So we sat down, and I went over the steps and how to read the cards, such as Mana Cost, Power/Toughness, etc etc. (which he had no problem with).
Today, I played two games against him using some of my old decks.
In the first game, he left me dead, with his Razor Golem equipped with Banshee's Blade, Loxodon Warhammer, and Grafted Wargear trampled over my blocker, leaving me at exactly 0, and him at 31.
Second game was closer, with my Carrion Feeder leaving him at 1 life before he beat me down into -2 life.
It was fun, and helped me to justify having bought so many cards so long ago.

Lack of Champions Updates
Its been a while since I've played Champions Online. My computer's hard-drive got severely corrupted a while ago, and I've been using my wife's computer to write and do all my online things. Unfortunately, it means that Champions plays very slow on her computer, so I just end up annoyed.
As for other updates, I'm doing formated scene-by-scene of the novel I'm working on, and writing out those scenes when I can. I'm working on my next big blog post, which is something that's been bothering me for quite some time. Also, I've been reading more and more blogs as I find them.
Recently, and old friend came into contact again, and talking to him has been awesome. Its made me reflect on memories, and I'm thinking of doing a post on that later as well.
As things progress I'll keep posting things here.

Path to Pangoria
Often times, people wonder, what is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of everything I do?
Some people find answers in religion. Others in family. Still others fill this void of purpose with alcohol, gambling, or sex. Others still, spend their whole lives feeling empty.
In religion
Now, I haven't participated in every religion in the world. So I can't really speak for what it could mean to everyone. I can only say what it meant to me, and what it means to others I know.
For some people, the journey to understanding God and who he is, is the ultimate goal in life. And though they feel they may never fully understand him, they strive to get to know him. In these cases they see God as something outside of anything we know. He is neither living nor dying, but simply an infinite nothing which causes existence TO BE. He is what he is. The creator.
Others see religion as a way of living life. "What Would Jesus Do?" they ask themselves, and try to follow the example of a "Perfect Man".
For me, religion was an oppressive burden which I never understood, and the more I tried to understand, the more I wanted to distance myself from it.
Alcohol, Gambling, and Sex
I've done all three of these things, and I understand how addicting it can all be. In the end, like most things in life, it's not a good thing to fully devote yourself to it. Whether its drinking too much, doing too many drugs, gambling away your savings, home and family, or sleeping around to excess and hurting those you care about. Those who fill their lives with it, are sometimes doing so because they have no other purpose in life, and so what started off as a fun, sometimes thing, becomes an all the time, time sink of MMO proportions.
Family
Living for your family. This has a couple of different meanings, and the most negative one is to put everyone else above yourself. In this case, the worst case scenario is the person who is a workaholic so their family can have "everything", or the person who stays at home and cooks, cleans, and never is appreciated for what they do, the doormat.
A more positive version, is the dedicated parent, the devoted spouse, and the dear child. When your actions and love are reciprocated with like action and love. But even then, something is still missing, and sometimes people are not fully satisfied with what they have.
Balance
Growing up as a Libra, I always viewed the world as something that should be balanced. Reality of course is never balanced, but we can choose to balance ourselves at least. Because when you're living, you have to live for yourself most of all. Otherwise, you'll be dissatisfied with life.
I know I want to spend time with my wife, my son, my mother, my brothers, my friends, my projects, my games, my dreams. Sometimes you have to give yourself the time to spend with these things.
Finding that balance, is how you find the Path to Pangoria.

asdfjkl;
Sometimes I run into random things, and sometimes I'd go and "digg" it, or "stumble" it. But as awesomely random as those two things are, I sometimes want to blog about it.
asdfjkl; was something as random as a rutabaga. A website, where he simply asks you to give him content instead.
I'm not quite sure how long this person has been at this, and according to his faq, I really have to wonder why there is so much random vitriol (this is one of my new favorite words, I'm asking my friends to bear with me until it's out of my system. I do know its meaning, and I do mean that people are saying "acidic" "sulfuric" things). He apparently has a folder dedicated to it (as well as dedicated to people who love him).
I became a fan of OnLive on Facebook, because I'm really interested in it, and there were a few people who spewed vile shit at them. Simply because it wasn't available yet.
Now I know people who cite John Gabriel's Greater Internet Dickwad Theory, but I personally think that people who are assholes online, would be assholes in real-life until someone called them on it. But for the most part, online they either don't get people's responses to it, or they don't feel the visceral fear they would get of having someone right in front of them. Either way, they do it on purpose, and they do it because they enjoy being assholes.
I just don't understand wanting to be an asshole. Now, I'm an asshole most of the time, but sadly, it usually happens when I'm trying to be nice. I have been threatened, and been to meetings with bosses. All this, while I'm just trying to ask them to do something, nicely, and calmly. I guess my real feelings to show through on my face, and voice... and quite honestly, I can't help it when dealing with stupid things. Sadly, calling someone a stupid moron is frowned upon in corporate America, and I have yet to be able to do so.
So if anyone can answer me, if you have ever spouted vile shit at someone online, why did you do it?
